that I'm a procrastinator
But for real this time.. I'm doing it.
So "what had happened was" I wrote my last post right before the Super Bowl. Big mistake. My roommate had friends over for it and of course I couldn't help but indulge on the little pigs in a blanket, and wings.....and ribs......and pizza..... Yes, I went overboard. But that Monday I was back to it. BUT THEN I decided to go to NY, and nothing good happens when I visit my college friends in NY. It was a weekend full of delicious food and booze and needless to say, I'm still fat.
So it's Thursday now. Got back from NY on Monday. Been back on the diet since yesterday (shhh, I can hear you judging me), and I really am feeling motivated. I know you're thinking, "oh, she's said this before," well true, I have. But I'm not asking you to hold your breath... I'm just saying how I'm feeling going into my millionth attempt. (Yes, I did just have a little temper tantrum there, did you catch that?)
Anyways, I have my weigh in today. My goal at my last weigh-in was 3 pounds and 3 workouts. HAHAHAHAHAHA. right. No way that happened. But on the plus side my roommate got an xbox kinect for xmas and some cool workout game, so last night I did set up my account and my goals. The woman on that thing is MEAN!!! I walked away because I was cooking dinner while I was setting it up, and because the game can see you she started yelling at me. Rude.
sorry this post is all over the place, but if you read it you're probably used to that. More later. Can't focus.

I'm taking playlist suggestions
Things have calmed down a bit at work and I don't feel so crazy. My mom said the diet should be easier when I'm so busy because my food is picked for me basically, but for some reason it just wasn't working like that for me. This diet takes a lot of will-power (and I don't have much) and being constantly stressed lowers my will-power even more.. therefore I eat what I want. And I did. But yesterday I finally went back into Medifast, and I'm starting fresh.
As of right now I'm down 7.5 lbs from where I started back in September (at least I think it was september). It sucks to think about how far along I would be if I had been able to stick with it, but I guess there's no use in thinking about that because, well, I'm still fat, and I didn't do it.
So here's what I NEED from you. I need support. I need someone to smack my hand and say "stop it, you're fat." I can pretty much rely on Selwa for that... so what I actually need from YOU, whoever you are reading this, is a song or two. I need music that I didn't put on a playlist myself, I need surprises. So, I want you lovely people to send me the best workout songs you can think of. It can be fast-paced to get me running, motivational... whatever. If I don't already have the song I'm just going to download it without listening to it, add it to the playlist, and let myself be surprised. Leave your suggestions in the comments, email them to me (jleighgreen@gmail.com), text them to me... and thanks!
until next time... which won't be as far apart as the last few,
Jen
P.s.
I moved. Harper needed a friend. I got another cat. He's evil. His name is Bruce Wayne.

I'm on hiatus...
I'll be getting back to it once my conference is over, so expect updates after February 1st.
Until then-

the holidays are upon us...
So, my last post was awhile ago (sorry) and right after my trip to Vegas. If you remember I didn't do too well. I took my medifast food with me but pretty much gave up on my first full day there. When I got back I was pumped to get back into my diet... but I failed... yet again.
About 2 weeks ago I was in New Orleans for work. I went in feeling confident. I packed my food, packed my workout clothes, and planned to be good. My thinking was, "I'm going to be in a city I've never been to before, by myself. It's not really safe, so I won't be exploring and eating out." I'm funny.
I got to New Orleans on a Tuesday morning but the pre-conference session I was supposed to be attending that day was cancelled. I had the entire day to do whatever I wanted. I called a friend who suggested a few restaurants and I was off to the French Quarter (which was 2 blocks from my hotel). I got a fried oyster po-boy and an Abita. Nom Nom Nom.
For dinner I had sushi. nom nom nom.
I did make it to the gym tuesday, wednesday, and thursday night... problem was working out can't do much when you're not eating right! The conference fed us, and my plan was to only eat salads and lean protein, but it was also at a Waldorf-Astoria hotel and everything looked delicious. I mean EVERYTHING. And yes, I ate it. Oops. I was feeling so guilty when I got back that i skipped my weigh in on Saturday (got home friday night). The next friday I finally went to my weigh-in and had gained 2 lbs since my last visit. Not as bad as I expected... especially since I didn't get back on my diet when I returned from New Orleans. Instead I figured "f*** it" and ate what I wanted since I had already screwed it up... and that included office thanksgiving and two type of mac and cheese. Again, oops.
Anyways, when I finally did go back for my weigh-in, I got a lecture on my second visit in a row and I will be going in twice a week now. Mondays and Fridays. I felt like it was silly to go so close together but my brother said it would be good because it would gear me up for the week and the weekend... which I wasn't viewing it as. So, we'll see if having them on my back helps. I really want this to work and I know I'll see results if I can just get it together! The only downside is the center I go to is right by my house, and in a week I'll be moving closer to my office. I may have to switch to lunchtime weigh-ins so I don't have to drive that way during rush-hour after work.
Sorry this post was a little frantic. I haven't written in awhile and I've lost all the thoughts I originally had for my post-NO trip. My next post will probably be a thanksgiving re-cap... or after I move. Can't wait to decorate and post pictures of that.
Speaking of the move... my room is a disaster right now, but kitty doesn't mind.

it's been too long (continued)
Overall the trip was a great time. I got super tan, went hiking, ate good food, saw some shows. Did more than I have time to type about, but here's a few more pics.
I got back from Vegas on Monday morning, planning to get back to my diet that I hadn't stuck to at all. I had forgotten about it so much that I left all of my food in the hotel room when we checked out (I did remember before we left so I could go get it.. luckily). I had my weigh in on Wednesday and was back up 4.5 lbs. Exactly what I had lost before I left. I was actually expecting it to be worse.
Well, that was a week ago tomorrow, and I can't say I've gotten completely back on the horse. It's been really hard to stop eating the tasty stuff I've become readdicted to, but I am trying. I have a weigh in tomorrow and I know the scale won't show anything lost. I considered changing my appointment to friday to give myself more time, but I decided I don't care. I'm sure there are people in there struggling just as much as I am and I know I am getting myself together after a long vacation.
I will close today with some words of wisdom...
Coversation with my brother
Tim: How's the diet going? You haven't updated your blog in awhile.
Me: It's going
Tim: I take it by that response it's not going too well
Me: well, Vegas and everything sort of threw me off
Tim: well what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so it didn't really happen at all
Me: well, the scale says it happened
Tim: The scale is stupid.
